Wood House
London

They say apartments come to look like their owners, or whichever way around that works. The owner of this home had those quintessentially British traits: unassuming, modest, but quietly sophisticated. It was never going to be any other kind of apartment.

Located in Notting Hill, this bachelor pad is located at the centre of one of our favourite London neighbourhoods.

We were approached by a young, forward-thinking professional, who had recently bought an apartment and who was keen to create a space fit for modern living. Like a lot of properties on the market, the apartment was tired and had been well lived in for many years by the previous owners.

The apartment was situated across one floor of what was originally two Georgian terraced houses, allowing the apartment to work well by creating easy single level city living.

One of the best assets of the property are the beautiful Georgian windows. By opening the kitchen up to the living space, we allowed the light to flood through from the street all the way to the gardens behind, thus creating a bright open living space. We have complemented this by using a palette of natural textures and tones, wood, concrete and raffia wallpaper and complemented by rich, organic tobacco curtains and soft furnishings.
